Doddridge County Roots - A West Virginia Genealogy

Doddridge County Roots - A West Virginia Genealogy:
This is a genealogy focusing on North Central West Virginia, particularly Doddridge County and, to a lesser extent, the nearby counties of Ritchie, Harrison, Lewis, Gilmer, Tyler, Wetzel and Calhoun.
This project evolved from a simple family tree of the Gaston and Husk families who settled in Doddridge County in the mid-1800s. Over the years, it has grown to include over 113,000 individuals and to encompass the genealogies of many other families in the region, including those found in the "Top 100 Surnames" list below.
To the extent that our filtering software allows, the names of living people under the age of 85 are changed to read "Living," with personal details suppressed. If you are searching for yourself or another living person, look first for a parent or grandparent, keeping in mind that women are always indexed by their maiden name.
The information set forth here is the product of many years of research, both by us and by the many dedicated and selfless genealogists who came before us. It is now presented to the genealogy community and general public in that same spirit of sharing and helpfulness. Our reward is the knowledge that we have likely helped others find an elusive piece in the puzzle that is their own ancestry.
